Divine G, imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose by performing in a theater group with other inmates in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the actors try out for various parts in the play. These are actual audition tapes used to pitch the film. The group has been criticized for not yet doing comedy. Their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy-drama. At Night with Seth Meyers Features: Colman Domingo/Jose Medeles (2024). Blade was written by Bryce Dessner. Rating: 8.7 Overall, this is a powerful film that shows how prisoners are still human, as the film uses alumni of Sing Sing’s RTA program to deliver this powerful message, with a great performance by Colman Domingo.
